Where's Ibrahim?

an online scrapbook about our director Dr. Ibrahim Karawan

* One of the most common questions that we get at the Middle East Center is: "Where's Ibrahim?". Sometimes that is a very difficult question to answer because Dr. Karawan is one of the busiest people I have ever met. So I decided to start keeping an online record of some of the more interesting things that he does for our center. Enjoy.

June 1, 2004-June 7, 2004

Dr. Karawan was invited by the Center for Gulf Studies in the State of Qatar to participate in a conference entitled "Political Reform and Democracy in the Arab World". The following pictures come from Qatari newspapers that covered the event.
This photo was taken from the Al-Watan Newspaper, based out of Qatar on June 5th 2004. The individuals in the photograph from left to right are: Dr. Farid Abdel-Nour (San Diego State University), Dr. Mona Mikhail (New York University), Dr. Ibrahim Karawan (University of Utah), Mohammad Al-Rumaihi (Ex-general secretary for National Council for Culture, Arts, and Letters, Kuwait) and Sadiq al-Mahdi (Former Prime Minister of Sudan).
This photo is from the article interviewing Dr. Karawan in the Al-Raya Newspaper from Qatar, also appearing on June 5th, 2004. We can't decide if he looks sad or pensive in this picture. Unfortuately we do not have an English translation of the article, but for those who are interested in viewing a PDF file of the Arabic article, please click here.

Dr. Karawan appears on Civic Dialouge (KUED Channel 7) to discuss the current state of affairs in the Middle East. The pictures below are not the best of quality as they were taken from a TV monitor. See here for more info on the television program Civic Dialouge.
