Getting There
Most of the major US airlines fly to Salt Lake City. Its central location in the heart of the Intermountain West makes it a common transfer point for passengers headed to the west coast. Delta Air uses Salt Lake City as its western hub and, beginning in June 2008, will offer direct flights connecting Salt Lake City and Paris.
Getting from Salt Lake City International Airport to the Conference Center
Fort Douglas, which served as the Olympic Village during the Winter Olympic Games in Salt Lake City in 2002, is located on the eastern edge of the campus of the University of Utah. The main venue for the accommodation of the conference participants will be the University Guest House, which is located a very short walking distance from the building where the conference will be held.
Although the city government has long threatened to extend Salt Lake City’s light rail (called “Tracks”) to the airport, this project has yet to materialize. This being the case, the best way to get from the airport to the Guest House and Conference Center is either by taxi, which costs about $20, or by minibus which takes longer but can be as low as $10.
For those who wish to stay at one of the downtown hotels, they can reach the conference center easily by taking the light rail to the University of Utah and getting off at the stop for Fort Douglas.
