Egypt: Jewel of the Nile

International Seminar 2009-2010- Egypt: Jewel of the Nile

A truly unique seminar for educators and interested others.

This year the International Seminar will focus on the country of Egypt---a country of great historical significance and rich in ancient and modern culture.  Egypt is home to the Pharaohs, the Nile River and to notable individuals such as Umm Kulthum, Naguib Mahfouz, Omar Sharif, and Boutros Boutros-Ghali.

We will look at some of the traditions, cultural heroes, literature, geography, politics, and development of key cities in Egypt, with the intention of putting together a trip to the region.

Come experience this fascinating and varied part of the world in a course that includes presentations by invited scholars, videos, demonstrations, hands-on activities, and discussions.  The purpose is to provide K-12 educators with classroom relevant information and activities that can be easily used.
