Seminars
Since 1987, a unique seminar, designed specifically for educators (all levels and roles) but applicable to others, has been offered each academic year through the University of Utah's Department of Teaching and Learning. This seminar is sponsored by the Department of Teaching and Learning, the Middle East Center, and the Utah State Office of Education. Each seminar focuses on a part of the world for which there is a need for deeper understanding and which will be of interest to educators. In the past, seminar participants have studied China, Japan, the Soviet Union, Russia, the British Isles, Morocco, the Levant, Turkey and Central Asia, Egypt, Tunisia, the Gulf, and recently Al-Andalus.
This page serves as a portal to information pages for the various seminars that we have had in the past and current seminars. As time permits, archived materials from previous seminars will be made available--these materials range from Handouts, Curriculum Guides and Lesson Plans, to general information on the region that is given out during the course of the year-long seminars.
